We are now able to offer a Pilates classed aimed at horse riders. Our instructor Faye Bedford is not only a qualified horse riding instructor, but is also qualified to teach Pilates. Due to the success of our last course we will be offering another course starting on Friday 2nd September. The session will consist of an hours mat based Pilates class followed by a one hour riding lesson.
Pilates has been proven to improve a riders balance, stability and ability to absorb the horses movement, making riding more comfortable for both horse and rider. During the Pilates session Faye will focus on posture and breathing with an aim of carefully encouraging the body to stretch in a safe way. Faye’s approach is relate each Pilates movement to that required on the horse, so that a clear understanding of how the mat movements relate to those required for riding is achieved. The session will contain a warm up and cool down and a chance to ask questions will be available.
The riding lesson will focus on adjusting the riding position to help improve a riders posture and horses way of going. The session will work through all three basic paces and pitched at a suitable level for all riders. Faye will make the necessary changes to both horses and riders progressively throughout the session.
The sessions can either be booked as a one hour Pilates only session 11am -12pm or combined for the two hours, finishing at 1pm. All bookings to be made through reception.
