A Fantastic Event is Coming to
Cheshire Riding School
On Wednesday 4th August 2021 – 6 – 8.30pm
Falconry on Horseback with Racehorses
This is a “not to be missed opportunity” to witness something almost unique and exciting and something you will never forget!
Martin and his team from Devon work with racehorses when they’ve reached the end of their racing career; they train them to work with eagles, hawks, and falcons, combining the ancient arts of riding and falconry to a way suited to the modern world
“Martin Whitley has flown falcons in the field from thoroughbreds since 2000 when he picked up a badly behaving peregrine from a girl who was working for him at the time, and when he returned from exercising, he had a bit of an epiphany. He flew his hunting falcons from horses after that.
In 2015 after many requests he decided to pull the horses in to what he did commercially. He loves being able to show how versatile a horse can be after racing when given the opportunity. Thoroughbreds can get a bad press but he believes that this is mainly because they end up in the wrong hands, and he loves being able to show what they can do given the opportunity.
A good life after racing for these horses is something very close to his heart, and luckily the thoroughbreds make the best falconry horses, as they are fast, adaptable, reliable, and it’s a job they love”.
Our recpetion team are still on limited hours until we open on 29th March 2021.
So, if you want to get booked in please call between 10am and 12pm Monday to Thursday. If you need to speak to a member of the team in between those hours, please email us on [email protected] or send us a Facebook message.
Please note all bookings must be done over the phone, so if you’re unable to get through please leave us an answer maching message and we’ll return your call as soon as possible.
